Planning and Experimentation on Main poster image

Final Poster - Experimentation, creation and development of main image

Main Poster

Original Photograph

This is my main image before editing it as you can tell it is very dull. the top of the head is chopped of. The skin color does not look over decorated. There is a dark shadow around the image which does not look professionally hilarious.
As you can tell the image itself looks funny as a close up shot.

The idea of a very close-up shot comes from the research of looking at similar comedic posters.

Experimentation of the main image

I had applied many effects on the main image which allowed me to choose which image is most suitable for my poster. I want to choose a funny main image for the poster so that the genre of my poster thus the genre of my film is easily identifiable.

Cut Outs

On the main image I had added a cut out effect.

Paint Daubs and Poster edges effect

Paint daubs and the poster edges effect was added to the main image these are filters which give the main image a more comedical look for the poster.

Stain Glass

A stain glass effect was applied to see how well the image looked

Cut out and Poster Edges

A cut out and poster effect was applied to test how good the image looked for my main image as he is the main character and represents Harry in the trailer.

Contrast and brightness levels adjusted
I had tried regulating the contrast and the brightness levels by testing how satisfactory it looked visually on my poster. I found from my research that many of the posters I looked at had bright vivid images to magnetise and attract a wide audience.

Contrast and brightness levels adjusted

The image's contrast and brightness levels were adjusted to make it suitable for my poster. Choosing a good image was very difficult as I had to consider the fact that genre is very important as every element I consider on the poster needs to fit a slap-stick comedy genre.
Shadows/ Highlights - this effect helped me to take these shadows of this was done to brighten the image and to make it stand out.
A clone stamp tool was added at the top of the head as the hair was chopped of when the picture was taken.

There are huge differences between the images above as different effects have been applied to all the images. I am trying to choose an image that would work well with my poster. As you can see the difference of the image their are lighting effects added to make it stand out similar to the main image of Bean.

All the images were slightly stretched out to make it look funny. Overall I feel that the final image would be suitable for my posteras from my feedback from my questionnaires that I asked people to fill out they thought that this final image would be suitable for my poster, and also helps them to identify and recognise that the genre of this poster through the characters pose and the protrayal of a slap-stick comedy, which persuades them to watch the comedic film.

When I decided which image I would like to place on my poster I had to consider the genre and the immediate reaction I want my audience to endure the second they look at my poster.

Magazine Research

This is my main magazine image before it was edited asyou can tell the lighting on the image was uneven. The image itself looks hilarious as it is a close up image and is notwhat people expect on a magazine cover however it still meets the generic conventions.

My magazine cover follows similar conventions as the 'Alice in Wonderland' magazine, firstly the main image is a close-up similar to the 'Alice in Wonderland' image. The main image has bright lighting and main tools and techniques applied to make it look bright and attractive to the reader. As 'Alice in Wonderland' follows comedy generic conventions which means to create a comedical poster I hve to follow teh simple codes and conventions of a comedical genre similar to 'Alice in Wonderland'.
Clashy colours were used to make the magazine cover look striking and attractive for the audience to identify easily teh magazine itself, thus through the robust genre shown through the repertoire of elements displayed in the magazine reflected the genre of the main character thus the film he is going to be acting in. As a result the way the film is promoted through different types of media not only attracts a wide audience for my comedy however replicates the importance of genre through the way it is publisised and promoted to attract a specific audience or a wide audience akin to my production work.

As you can see easily that the main image has been editted for example I felt that the lighting was not very good on my photograph therefore to enhance this I had to pertain effects onto the face furthermore improve the visual appearance of this image.
I had the character pulling a face like this as I was trying to follow the generic conventions of my comedy consequently create humour as well as persuade customers to purchase the magazine and as a result watch the film.
